Pablo Karaman - Τενόρος

The Argentinian tenor Pablo Karaman discovered his tenor voice after training as a musician. In Argentina, he studied composition and orchestral conducting at the University of Córdoba while concurrently studying the contrabass.

After his career as a musician, Karaman decided to dedicate himself to singing and as a consequence to move to Europe. Since 2011 he has been settled in Italy, homeland of his mother. Today he continues studying vocal technique with Bill Schuman in New York.

In few years Karaman's career took off and he has dedicated himself to the lirico repertoire, singing important roles such as the Duke of Mantova in Rigoletto, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Percy in Anna Bolena, Alfredo in La Traviata, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Rodolfo in La Bohéme

Since his 2011 debut, Karaman has performed leading roles in the lirico repertoire: Most recently, in 2015 he was the Duke of Mantova in Rigoletto at the Teatro Bellini di Catania conducted by M° Michelangelo Mazza. At the same theater, he was Percy in Anna Bolena under the baton of M° Antonio Pirolli und stage direction by Marco Carniti. In La Bohème, he sang the part of Rodolfo at the Theater of Bamberg and the Teatro Comunale “Luciano Pavarotti” di Modena. He was Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the National Theater of Skopje, Macedonia with stage direction by Lev Pugliese and at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania under the baton of M° Plasson. Recently, he sang the part of Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Mozart Festival of Pravets under the baton of Mario De Rose and with stage direction by Ognyan Draganov.

Under the baton of M° Daniel Oren, Karaman sang the part of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Verdi di Salerno, a role which he repeated at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo, Brazil with stage direction by Pier Francesco Maestrini. At the Teatro Verdi di Trieste, he was Malatestino dell'Occhio in Francesca da Rimini by Zandonai conducted by M° Fabrizio Maria Carminati and with stage direction by Giancarlo del Monaco. He interpreted the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the National Theater of Tirana. With the Orchestra of Radio France, he sang the part of the Count of Neipperg in Madame Sans-Gêne by Giordano at the Montpellier Festival conducted by Marco Zambelli. He sang the part of Fenton in Falstaff with stage direction by Ivan Stefanutti and Tamino in the Zauberflöte with stage direction by Enrico de Feo. During his careeer, Karaman has collaborated with renowned stage directors such as Giancarlo del Monaco, Marco Gandini, Gabriele Lavia, Marco Carniti, Pier Francesco Maestrini, Lev Pugliese and Francesco Esposito; and conductors such as Leonard Slatkin, Stefan Anton Reck, Fabrizio Maria Carminati and Daniel Oren.

In concert, Karaman performed with Marcello Giordani and Dimitra Theodossiou conducted by José Cura at the Teatro Bellini di Catania. Alongside Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero and Jovanotti, Karaman performed at the concert Luciano’s Friends under the baton of M° Carminati at the Teatro Comunale “Luciano Pavarotti” di Modena, where he also sang Gli Zingari by Leoncavallo conducted by Alessandro D'Agostini. In the USA, he has appeared at the Dayton Opera in Ohio and at the Vero Beach Opera conducted by M° Anton Coppola.

On Italian national broadcast, Karaman appeared in the television transmission “Mettiamoci all’opera” on Italian Rai Uno, winning the first prize in the competition, which permits him to collaborate with the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation. The soprano Montserrat Caballé has defined his voice as similar to that of Nicolai Gedda and she chose Karaman to perform in a concert organized by her at the Auditorium of Zaragoza, Spain.

At the Marcello Giordani competition he won the prize for the role Fenton in Falstaff. In Germany he was awarded a scholarship by the Richard-Wagner-Verband, an organization with which he continues to collaborate, and he was their guest at the Bayreuth Festival.

Recently he performed as the Duke of Mantova in Rigoletto at the Teatro Verdi di Pisa and at the Teatro Sociale di Rovigo, Nemorino in Elisir D’Amore of G. Donizetti at Bucharest National Opera and at Georgian National Opera of Tiblisi.
