Grigoris Grigoriou - Composer
Grigoris Grigoriou was born in Athens in 1978. He is the son of the composer Michalis Grigoriou and the cinematographer Anna Goulioti.
He began taking private piano lessons at the age of 6 with Eleni Keramea, and then with Reima Rayers and Nelli Semitekolo. He continued his studies in music at the Model (Protipo) Music Center of Piraeus, obtaining a degree in Harmony in 1997, and took composition lessons by the composer Kyriakos Sfetsas. In the same year he was admitted to Panteion University in the Department of Sociology, where he received his degree in 2003.
In March 2003 he began his doctorate in composition at the Ionian University in the Department of Music Studies on "Music for Literary Text – Gulliver’s Travels by J. Swift", successfully defending his dissertation in February 2010. At the same time he continued his studies in music at the Central Conservatory, obtaining a degree in Counterpoint in June 2010.
Since 2019, he has been visiting the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in Russia for composition lessons in the form of a stage program with Anton Tanonov.
His repertoire includes works of various genres, ranging from solo instruments and chamber music to electronic music and full symphonic orchestra. He has given several concerts as both performer and composer in Greece, and has composed music for television and documentaries. His works have been performed in Saint Petersburg by the Union of Russian Composers and the Student Orchestra of the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
Since November 2020, the composer has been represented worldwide by Musicentry.
